Omaha may fine homeowners who don't clear their sidewalk of snow

On Friday afternoon (Jan. 17, 2020) the City of Omaha announced when they plan to cease some snow removal operations. From that time, residents will have 24 hours to clear your sidewalks or the City may do it and charge property owners for the added service, according to KMTV 3 News Now. Meaning residents have until Sunday morning to avoid penalties.

“Homeowners and business owners have snow removal responsibilities that help keep our City safe. By practicing a few common courtesies, traveling around Omaha can be better for everyone,” said a statement from Omaha Public Works.

The newser also gives instruction on snow removal such as to clear sidewalks promptly; to clear snow around fire hydrants and do not bury hydrants with snow from walks or drives; and to not plow, shovel or blow snow back into the street.
