Black and Pink Speaks Out for People in Corrections
NOISE sat down with Dominique Morgan of Black and Pink to discuss their letter sent to Governor Ricketts, Director Frakes, and Inspector General Koebernick (seen below) regarding plans and treatment of individuals who are currently incarcerated in this time of coronavirus.
“There was a crisis in Nebraska around the Department of Corrections before COVID-19.” From overpopulation, proposals to build new prisons, and overworked staff, Morgan sees this public health crisis as an opportunity to make serious changes.
Morgan said that Black and Pink’s network includes over 18,000 members nationwide and the organization provides information through a mailed newsletter, programming, and is currently working to raise and distribute funds to immunocompromised individuals to purchase necessary sanitary goods.
