NOISE will begin offering in-person journalism and technology training at 1911 Harney St., activating this space as a community journalism hub promoting the future of non-biased journalism.

The space will include:

  • Podcast recording studio

  • Computer lab (10 computers) for trainings/workshops,

  • Community space for town hall meetings

  • Green screen for film projects

*All of the above are available for hourly rentals. We plan to offer accessible pricing on a sliding scale making this a true hub for the whole city regardless of one’s financial means.

Why is NOISE doing this? How will it further NOISE’s mission?

  • Training BIPOC Omaha residents in media production and journalism has always been part of NOISE's mission. This provides a dedicated space for NOISE to do that as well as space for NOISE's team and partners to produce podcasts and audio and video projects.

  • This is the most cost-effective way for NOISE to provide such training and have needed technology available to the core team.

  • NOISE plans to partner with others on workshops including Flatwater Free Press and local universities.

  • Those who attend training not only will become aware of NOISE, they'll be equipped with new skills - including skills that enable them to contribute to NOISE.

  • Raising awareness of NOISE and making NOISE more accessible via a physical "storefront" space to complement its growing online presence.

  • Reaching and directly engaging young BIPOC Omaha creatives and entrepreneurs.

  • Building relationships between NOISE and African migrants in Omaha as well as potential sponsors via the partnership with the Midlands African Chamber.

  • Expanding NOISE’s coverage of BIPOC tech and entrepreneurship through distribution of NOISE stories through AIM Institute’s publication Silicon Prairie News.
